Simon Grayson watches on against Shelbourne

United manager Simon Grayson is considering his options ahead of Monday's trip to Stockport County.

Both Andrew Hughes and Richard Naylor picked up knocks during the Boxing Day win against Hartlepool, and Grayson may be set to make changes for the trip to the League One strugglers.

"Hughesy took a knock on his knee which may need stitches and Nayls picked up a knock late on," said the manager.

"We'll have a look how everyone is on Sunday and then again on Monday morning.

"We've got a good squad and there are a number of players who are wanting to get into that 18.

"I would expect there to be a couple of fresh faces at Stockport, but at the sime time, with the Manchester United game coming up, no one particularly wants to be left out."

Stockport were hammered 4-1 at MK Dons on Boxing Day and are four points adrift at the foot of the division.

The Edgeley Park club have also been appealing to fans to help clear the playing surface ahead of Monday's high-noon showdown. The club have a newly-laid playing surface, but inclement weather across the Pennines saw a number of games called off on Boxing Day.

"We hope the game is on," said Grayson.

"We're looking for another three points and we want to end the year with this record.

"We've lost once in the league this season and we want to carry that into the New Year.

"Stockport will be another good game for us and it'll be another good test. There'll be a crowd and it'll be like any away game in that they will look to make things difficult for us."
