United manager Simon Grayson was quick to hail his side's performance at Brighton on Saturday as the best yet this season.

Grayson's men won 3-0 on the south coast thanks to a clinical performance that saw United in control from the first minute to the last.

United's work-rate at the Withdean was outstanding, and goals from Robert Snodgrass, Jermaine Beckford, and Neil Kilkenny secured the points.

"I thought we were very good," said the boss. "People talk about Bristol Rovers when we won 4-0, but this was better.

"We were in control, we passed it well with quality, we defended well when we had to do and I was delighted."

It was Brighton's first home league game under the stewardship of former United assistant manager Gus Poyet, but the outcome was never in doubt as Leeds moved nine points clear in the promotion places.

"We said it would be the hardest so far this season with Gus coming in and them having two wins on the trot," said the manager. "But the players have something about them and that showed.

"From the first minute to the last we were professional, and they worked their socks off. You can say that every week, but we really pressed both individually and as a team on Saturday.

"We created a lot of good chances and we could have been four or five up at half-time. But we also looked solid when they had possession and tried to cause us problems."

With heavy rain and wind, conditions were far from ideal on the pitch, but the manager was also quick to salute the near 900 away fans who were soaked to the skin at the end of the afternoon.

"It's not an easy place to come for anyone," he added. "The fans were fantastic.

"They got soaked with the rain, but I'm sure they drove back delighted with the result."
