Kelly Jones, the Leeds-supporting leader of top band the Stereophonics, is confident manager Simon Grayson is the man to lead the club into the Championship.

Speaking to Leeds Leeds Leeds magazine for its December-January issue he said: "It's been pretty good this year though, hasn't it? To be top of the table is fantastic - I just hope it continues because we don't want any more of that Play-Off stuff, do we?"

The singer's band have just returned to action after last year's million-selling best of album Decade In The Sun with a new single Innocent - the first track lifted from their forthcoming new album Keep Calm And Carry On. Keep Calm… is the band's seventh studio and will be released on Monday.

Welshman Kelly was born in 1974 and grew up in the Aberdare area of South Wales. He has been a Leeds fan ever since his older brother handed down an old yellow Admiral replica shirt and began indoctrinating him. Unsurprisingly, he and his brother were far from alone in supporting the Mighty Whites…

"There are a lot of Leeds fans in Wales - and since then I've discovered there are a lot of Leeds fans in the music business! Every record company we've ever been at there have been Leeds fans… I think it all stems from those glory years."

Kelly's musical career has, frustratingly, meant he is unable to get to as many matches as he would like due to the band's touring schedules - but as well as checking online he has subscribed to the official SMS and keeps in regular touch.

"Every Saturday recently my phone hasn't stop buzzing… especially with those two 4-0s!"

More from Kelly in the next LLL - and in the Huddersfield programme.

Stereophonics return with their brand new studio album Keep Calm And Carry On, out November 16 on Mercury Records - a sensational 12-track collection and the band's seventh studio album.
