Max Gradel in action against Grimsby

United boss Simon Grayson is planning to speak with Leicester City manager Nigel Pearson in the hope of loan man Max Gradel returning to Elland Road.

Gradel's loan spell officially expires after the weekend, but with the Swindon game falling victim to international commitments, Tuesday's 3-1 JPT win against Grimsby Town was the last game he is available for.

Gradel made his first start for the club against the Mariners, and was the architect for the first goal, which saw his shot deflected off Olly Lancashire.

"Max did well when he got possession of the ball," said the boss.

"Maybe he needed it a bit earlier at times, but he put in some decent balls and entertained people.

"We've had conversations with Nigel at Leicester and we'll have another one, and see if we can extend it.

"We don't need to press ahead - we haven't got a game on Saturday - and it will be Leicester's decision.

"If he has to go back to Leicester we will wish him well and thank them for allowing him to come to us in the first place, but hopefully we will be able to agree something.

"I think he would like to come back, he's fitted in really well, he's a bubbly character and he's done really well for us."
