United first team coach ready for Oldham...
Glynn Snodin is looking forward to feeling the 'Magic of the FA Cup' this weekend when Leeds United travel to face Oldham in the first round.
United go into the game on the back of a league run that has seen just one defeat in 15, and Simon Grayson's men have already built up a seven-point lead at the top of League One.
The FA Cup tie, which will be screened live on the internet via www.thefa.com, could be viewed as a break from league action, but first team coach Snodin is relishing the trip across the Pennines and says progress is the aim.
"When you are winners you want to win everything and every game," he said.
"It's hard to do that, but we want to win that game on Saturday and keep the winning habits
"We could have drawn a non-league side, but at least we know what Oldham are about and what we have to expect. Hopefully we can go there and put a performance on.
"They are a hard working side. I know Dave Penney very well and they will be up for it. It'll be tough, but hopefully we can get closer to that third round draw."
United have failed to reach the third round on both occasions since relegation from the Championship two seasons ago prompted entry at the first round stage.
In 2007, Hereford won a first round replay at Elland Road and last season, United fell victim to non-league Histon.
Snodin, however, is a former FA Cup semi-finalist and is a lover of the tradition and history of the competition.
"It's a great cup to be in," he said. "It goes all around the world.
"I played in the semi-final for Sheffield Wednesday against Everton and it was a great day.
"It was hard work getting there, but in those days everybody wanted to get to Wembley. We lost the semi and there were grown men crying in the dressing room afterwards."
