Luciano Becchio leaves the field against Charlton

United manager Simon Grayson says he is waiting to learn more about the extent of Luciano Becchio's ankle injury.

The striker was carried from the field during Saturday's 0-0 draw against Charlton on Saturday and is set to undergo further tests on the problem today.

"Luciano is having another scan on Wednesday so it might be another 24/48 hours before we know any more," said the manager.

"He had X-rays on Saturday, but the area was quite swollen and until that goes down it's difficult to know the full extent.

"It's impossible to assess whether there is any ligament damage because we need it settle down properly.

"Hopefully we will know more over the next few days."

United appeared to lose another striker though injury during Tuesday's 2-1 win against Darlington in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy when Mike Grella limped off, but the boss says the American is fine.

"Mike did take a bang, but it was nothing," said the boss. "He was fine afterwards.

"Mike was coming off anyway, it just so happened that he took the knock when we were about to make the change."
