Credit but disappointment for United after Reds clash...
Jason Crowe was delighted to see Leeds United walk away from Tuesday's Carling Cup clash against Liverpool with deserved credit - but the defender and his team-mates were still disappointed not to claim a Premier League scalp.
United went down 1-0 to Rafael Benitez's side at Elland Road, but had a goal disallowed, created plenty of chances, and impressed a worldwide TV audience with the performance.
"We played well and gave them a good game, but it was disappointing to come away as losers after playing well," said Jason.
"We had a goal disallowed, we created plenty of opportunities, and then to concede a sloppy goal like we did was disappointing.
"We'd said before that we felt we could give them a game and get a result, and we came away with a lot of credit.
"We played the same as we have done for every other game this season, and I think we adapted to playing against a Premier League side and gave a good account of ourselves.
"We felt we could give them a game and get a result, and we came away with a lot of credit.
"They worked very hard, but all the players in the top league work hard, that's why they are up there."
Amid all the plaudits it almost went un-noticed that the 1-0 reverse was the first defeat of the season for Simon Grayson's side.
After kicking off the season with a 10-game unbeaten run, David Ngog's goal means Leeds will head for MK Dons on Saturday looking to kick off another run.
"We've had an amazing start," conceded Jason.
"It's how we adapt on Saturday. It's our first defeat and we need to go into the game against MK Dons now and start another run."
Crowey also experienced a full Elland Road for the first time on Tuesday and said the support was amazing.
"It was fantastic," he added.
"I've experienced a big crowd here from being a loser for Northampton last season, but being on the fans side on Tuesday was amazing."
