Shane Higgs climbs high against Blackburn

United goalkeeper Shane Higgs is urging his team-mates to maintain a fine start to the season at Walsall on Tuesday (7.45pm).

United head for the Banks's Stadium aiming to make it three successive league victories to maintain the early pace at the top of League One.

"It's been a good start and we just have to carry that on now," said United's summer signing.

"On Saturday we picked things up in the second half, imposed ourselves on the game and made it difficult for them.

"We've done it for 45 minutes in games so far and got results, but we need to do it for 90 minutes."

The former Cheltenham goalkeeper has been fairly untroubled during the three opening games, but he showed his quality during the final moments at Wycombe on Saturday when he pulled off a terrific save.

"When you're not involved for long spells in the game you have to keep your concentration and stay focused," said Shane.

"I try and be calm as well, and pass that on to the back-four.

"When I came here in the summer, my aim was to get in the starting line-up and my objective was to keep my place in the team.

"I'm pleased with how things are going, and I'm trying to stay focused on each game as it comes.

"This is a nice club to be at. Promotion is mentioned before every game and that's what this club needs.

"Everywhere we go it's a big game, and I would expect Tuesday will be the same at Walsall.

"There'll be a big crowd and they will want to beat us, but we'll have a good support there and when you have that support behind you..."
