Forest Green

A Leeds United XI went down 2-0 to Forest Green Rovers at the New Lawn on Wednesday evening.

Goals from Steve Davies and Mark Preece either side of half-time proved enough to secure the Blue Square Premier Division side victory in sodden conditions.

Alan Sheehan and Paul Huntington provided the experience in what was largely a young United side.

Trialists Tom Beane and former San Jose Earthquakes striker Davide Somma also featured, with the latter rattling the bar for United.

Neil Thompson was in charge of the Leeds XI and he said: "It was a largely young team, but I felt our performance was a lot better than that at Bradford Park Avenue on Monday when we drew 3-3.

"We could have done better with the goals, but at the same time we were better on the ball, and it was only the final ball that was missing."
