United go down to Wealdstone...
WEALDSTONE 2 (Forbes 43, Lefeat 63), UNITED 1 (Kandol 22)
While Leeds United manager Simon Grayson took half of his squad to Grimsby Town on Tuesday, the remainder of his players headed for Wealdstone.
The game was agreed as part of the deal which brought Jermaine Beckford to Elland Road in March 2006, and the striker was handed a rare opportunity to return to his former club.
But it wasn't the happiest of returns for the striker as United slipped to a 2-1 defeat.
Beckford was one of the more senior members of the United side, but it was his strike partner of two seasons ago who gave United the lead with his first goal in a Leeds shirt since May 2008.
Tresor Kandol, making his first appearance of pre-season, scored with a header after Josh Falkingham was the provider as United enjoyed the better of the opening period.
Both Bradley Johnson and Beckford went close, forcing good saves, but the home side were level just two minutes before the break, Keiron Forbes drilling the ball home after a poor clearance.
Leeds also dominated much of the second period, but Wealdstone capitalised on a defensive error and Ross Lefete fired the home side ahead.
United had opportunities to level, Mike Whitwell going closest, but it wasn't to be, and the home side recorded a memorable victory.
United: Higgs, Darville, Huntington, Milne, Sheehan, Prutton, Falkingham, Johnson, Showunmi, Kandol, Beckford (Whitwell 75). Subs (not used): R Jones, Hatfield.
