Simon Grayson gives instructions against Glentoran

United manager Simon Grayson was more than delighted to pick up his first win of pre-season after the 3-1 success in Northern Ireland on Saturday.

Goals from Robert Snodgrass, Jermaine Beckford, and Enoch Showumni gave Leeds a 3-1 win against Glentoran in Belfast to end the Irish tour on a winning note.

"It was a real good workout," said the boss. "I said all along it's not about results it's about how we play.

"Once again, in the first half we looked a very good side. We passed it well, looked a good team, created some good opportunities and on another day we could have been four or five up by half-time.

"Their keeper made some good saves and blocks, and it was a good work-out.

"There were one or two tackles firing in which is good because you have to look after yourself.

"We knew it would be tough, we knew what to expect and we weren't disappointed."

Beckford had scored twice earlier in the week against Shelbourne, and while he added another to his tally, the Glentoran game saw first goals of pre-season for Snodgrass and Showunmi.

"Everybody to be getting goals is important," said the boss.

"I was pleased for Enoch given what he has been through, Snoddy got his first, and Jermaine showed his composure."

Instead of re-shuffling his entire team at half-time, the majority of Grayson's starting line-up played for at least 60 minutes with Lubo Michalik playing for the full 90.

"Everybody has opportunities to play," he said.

"That was no indication as to what team will start the season. It was about getting a performance.

"We have two games on Tuesday when everyone will get a chance to play again."
