United manager Simon Grayson will be looking to move pre-season up a level on Saturday when his side take on Glentoran.

United arrived in Belfast on Friday afternoon ahead of Saturday's clash at The Oval (3pm), and the manager wasted little time in putting his players through their paces on the training ground.

"We got here at lunchtime and we were training mid-afternoon," said the manager.

"We're looking forward to Saturday's game and we'll look to step it up.

"The players will play for around an hour or so rather than just 45 minutes. We have two games on Tuesday when the players might have to play full games, so this will be good for fitness.

"I thought we played some good football against Shelbourne on Tuesday, but there's still work to be done because we want to hit the ground running.

"Glentoran have just come back from Israel where they lost this week, but they'll be looking forward to the game and we know it will be a test.

"We're expecting a decent following from back home for this game and we want to put on a show for them and get something out of it.

"Enoch and the two goalkeepers both trained with us on Friday so hopefully there will be no reactions and they'll all be fit and raring to go."

The Glentoran game brings the week-long stay in Ireland to an end. The squad started out in Dublin before moving to the North for the first time since 1982.

"It's been a brilliant week," said the boss. "The facilities have been first class and everything has been perfect.

"We've mixed things up in terms of training because it's still about fitness. On Thursday morning we worked defensively and in the afternoon we varied things with boxing, and fitnes work.

"The players have done their sessions - they worked extremely hard on Thursday."
