Defender hoping to make impression on manager...
Alan Sheehan is hoping to use the pre-season tour to Ireland as a springboard to re-launch his Leeds United career.
The young Irishman, whose last first team appearance was against Carlisle in January, spent the end of last term on loan at Crewe.
But the 22-year-old returned to pre-season training at Thorp Arch two weeks ago and made his first appearance of the season at Shelbourne on Tuesday night when he caught the eye with an impressive opening 45 minutes.
"It felt good on Tuesday," said Sheens. "It's good to get straight back into it. Results aren't important at this stage, it's all about getting fit for the new season.
"It's always great to come home and play for Leeds in Ireland - we have a massive following out here - and you always know the Irish teams will give 100 per cent against you."
The former Leicester defender is now aiming to continuing impressing manager Simon Grayson in the hope of forcing his way back into the first team picture.
"I was delighted to hear when the manager said everyone was starting from scratch again," said the defender.
"I wasn't fit when he came in and my performances weren't good enough. I'm the first to admit that.
"Ben (Parker) came in and took his chance, but I know when I'm fit I'm more than able to do the job too.
"When I had the shirt and was doing well, Ben kept his head down, worked hard, and got his chance - I've got to do that this year.
"I've got to work as hard this year and take my chance when it comes."
