The planned Twenty 20 fixture between Leeds United and Lashings has been postponed.

The postponement was agreed with David Folb of Lashings as a suitable artificial surface to form the wicket that the game would be played upon could not be found.  While artificial surfaces were available these would only be suitable in the event that the pitch was cut exceptionally short underneath the surface, and that would then put the quality of the pitch in question for the start of the football season.

Other options were available but it was felt that these could compromise the quality of the game which would not be fair for paying supporters.

The club will look to host such a game at the end of the football season before the pitch renovations are undertaken.

Leeds United CEO Shaun Harvey said "We were assured that a pitch solution was available. However, having had the wicket tested on the pitch at Elland Road, it was not suitable and risked damage to the pitch.

"We appreciate that this is disappointing news but we did not feel comfortable that supporters would receive value for money.

"We will look to re-stage the game at the end of our season. The Ticket Office will be in touch with supporters to arrange refunds."
