Jason Crowe in action at York

Leeds United manager Simon Grayson took a squad of 23 players to Ireland on Monday - with fourof his senior players remaining in England.

The majority of the first team squad have headed for Ireland - including new signings Jason Crowe, pictured, and Shane Higgs - but Grayson is without Richard Naylor (back), Rui Marques (Achilles), Neil Kilkenny (ankle) and Tresor Kandol, who is working on his fitness.

Of the absent players, both Marques and Kilkenny have been left out as a precaution with the manager confident they will be fit to join up with the rest of the squad again in a week's time.

"We had a few little knocks before the York game," he said.

"Killa knocked his ankle on Thursday, and he needs to rest for four for five days but he'll be fine after that.

"Rui's also staying behind with his Achilles, Richard Naylor had his back operation, and Tres is catching up a little on fitness.

"Mike Grella and Alan Sheehan both missed the York game, but they should be fit to play some part in Ireland."

The squad arrived in Dublin on Monday ahead of Tuesday's game against Shelbourne (7.45pm). Leeds also play a second game against Glentoran in Belfast on Saturday (3pm).

Young defenders Tom Lees and Liam Darville are included in the 23-man squad along with striker Tom Elliott and Aidy White.

"We have a group of 23," confirmed the boss. "That includes 20 outfield and three goalkeepers. We have two games and there's plenty of training."

Squad for Ireland: Ankergren, Martin, Higgs, Crowe, Darville, Huntington, Michalik, Lees, Parker, Sheehan, White, Snodgrass, Hughes, Howson, Delph, Prutton, Robinson, Johnson, Becchio, Beckford, Showunmi, Grella, Elliott.
