Training at Thorp Arch

United manager Simon Grayson wasted little time in urging his players to look forwards and not backwards after he welcomed them back to Thorp Arch.

Before the squad hit the training pitches, the manager told his players there can be no dwelling on last season as he set out his aim for the new campaign.

"You can't get away from the fact of what happened at the end of last season, but it's history" said the boss.

"We had a chat on Thursday morning and said the players had done well over that period last season to get where we did.

"The disappointment was there for all to see, but that can be used as motivation.

"No one can dwell on the past. It's all about achieving our goal of winning promotion this season."

The players returned on Thursday to baking sunshine, but in complete contrast, Friday's double sessions took place in torrential rain.

"We've had a good day or so," said the manager.

"They did a lot of tests on Thursday, body fats and weight and such like, and they are all in good spirits.

"It was red hot and sunny on Thursday, but it was a bit different on Friday with a monsoon!

"They're all in good shape which is pleasing, they have come back re-vitalised and ready to go."
