Jermaine Beckford back in training at Thorp Arch

Jermaine Beckford returned to pre-season training with Leeds United on Thursday morning with chairman Ken Bates insisting the transfer-listed striker is still very much in the club's plans.

Becks, who scored 34 goals last season, was placed on the transfer list in May after failing to agree a new contract with the club.

Jermaine is out of contract at the end of the 2009/2010 season and, with the chairman confirming no bids have been made, the player returned to training as a key member of the squad.

"We haven't had any enquiries," the chairman told Yorkshire Radio

"As it is, Jermaine remains at Leeds, he is our player, and he is an important part of our plans to win promotion this season.

"If he stays and scores 30 goals - which we would all be pleased with - we can look at the situation again.

"You can always sign improved and extended contracts at any stage of the season and that may be his decision if we are near the Championship places later in the season."
