Outgoing midfielder delivers parting shot...
Departing midfielder Jonathan Douglas has moved to thank the Leeds United fans, following the ending of his four-year stay at Elland Road.
The one-time Republic of Ireland international will officially depart the club when his contract expires at the end of June.
Dougie said: "I've had four years at Leeds, I enjoyed my time there and it will be obviously a wrench leaving the club.
"The fans have been great with me and I'd like to take this chance to thank them for all their support.
"They have stayed with the club through everything, turned up in numbers, and backed us to the hilt.
"The biggest disappointment is that we couldn't reward the fans with something to celebrate for their support. Losing the Play-Off final to Doncaster after coming from 15 points behind was a bitter disappointment, as was the semi-final defeat against Millwall last week."
Dougie joined the club initially on loan during the 2005/06 season and he was a member of the side which suffered heartbreak at the hands of Watford in the Championship Play-Off final that season.
The 27-year-old joined on a permanent basis on the eve of the 2006/07 season and almost two years later he captained the club at Wembley for the League One Play-Off final against Doncaster.
The Monaghan-born midfielder, who spent the latter months his Leeds career playing at right-back, made 166 appearances during his four-year stay at Elland Road.
Everyone at Leeds United wishes Jonathan all the best for the future.
