United manager gives verdict on Southend game...
Simon Grayson said it was the result that mattered after his Leeds United side saw off Southend United 2-0 at Elland Road on Tuesday.
Quick-fire goals from Rui Marques and Richard Naylor put United 2-0 up after just 11 minutes and the early flurry effectively ended the game as a contest.
"It's all about winning games, whether you do it ugly or pretty it's about results," said the boss.
"We had a fantastic start. We set the standard and then we got a bit sloppy. We gave them opportunities and we had opportunities to kill them off.
"We could have easily won by four or five, or we could have conceded, but overall it was another victory and another clean sheet.
"The players know they have set themselves standards and they want to maintain that. Like I say, on another night we might have won by a lot more, but on another we might have been punished.
"We want to kill games off and give the opposition nothing. I don't want to be critical, though, because we won 2-0 and that's what we want to do."
The Elland Road attendance topped the 20,000 mark for the clash and was the biggest League One gate of the night.
The club would also like to thank a number of the fans who arrived early for their patience after there was a delay in the opening of the North Stand turnstiles due to a precautionary safety check.
