Casper Ankergren at Peterborough

United goalkeeper Casper Ankergren is predicting a bright future for the club after lining up in a young reserve team on Monday evening.

The Dane featured as United's reserves beat Grimsby Town 1-0 and says he was impressed with what he saw.

"We have some really talented players here," he told LUTV. "We played well in the first half and the second half was a battle, but it was nice to win the game.

"The lads were winning tackles, headers, and challenges, and the future is looking bright for Leeds."

The game represented a return to action for Casper, who was displaced by Dave Lucas in the senior side after the game against Huddersfield Town.

The two have been jockeying for the position all season, and that looks set to continue as United look to re-discover the winning habit.

Boss Gary McAllister says "small mistakes" have been costing his side precious points, and Casper firmly believes United will re-emerge from the current dip in form.

"Right now the every game is difficult and we have to accept that," he said.

"Sometimes you hit a streak where you fly and everything goes your way. Sometimes the smallest mistakes get punished and that's the situation we're in right now. We have to deal with it. It's important to work very, very hard and take things from there.

"Mistakes aren't funny at any level, but everyone in this squad can deal with mistakes. It's not about individuals, it's about the whole team - that's who win and lose games."
