The United management team look on at Histon

United boss Gary McAllister spoke of his disappointment after Sunday's FA Cup second round defeat at Histon.

The Blue Square Premier Division leaders became the first ever non-league conquerors of United thanks to Matthew Langston's first half header.

On a boggy pitch, Lubo Michalik twice came within a whisker of equalising, but United's FA Cup hopes were smashed at the compact Glass World Stadium.

"Some would say it was set up for a classic cup upset, but it was very disappointing," said the manager.

"The pitch wasn't ideal - but we can't use that as an excuse. It was no surprise they were going to get the ball in at set-pieces, and barring one we dealt with them.

"It's happened too often for it to be a wake-up call. We've been done like this on several occasions where we have created more opportunities than our opponents and come away with nothing.

"We have to trust in what we are trying to do here.

"They battled away, I would never accuse any of the players of a lack of effort, but again we made wrong decisions and were a bit untidy."
