Aidan White

Aidan White continued in the recent trend of homegrown players making an impact at Carlisle United when he made his league debut at Brunton Park on Saturday.

Fellow Academy graduate Jonny Howson stole the headlines at Carlisle last season when he scored twice in the Play-Offs - and it was 16-year-old Aidan who emerged with plenty of credit last weekend after snuffing out the threat of Cleveland Taylor.

Aidan's performance at left-back ensured his first inclusion in the Coca-Cola League One team of the week, and the youngster enjoyed his first league start.

"It was a faster tempo," said Aidy, whose previous experiences came in the cup ties against Crystal Palace and Bradford.

"But you have to play your normal game. You treat it as any other day, try to forget about the crowd, and play as well as you can.

"I thought I did okay. He (Taylor) is a good player, he's got great feet, and you have to deal with it.

"We did well to get a result. We played well, but we can play better. Overall it was a good result for us though."

Aidan's league debut lasted an hour before he limped out of the action after suffering with cramp.

Gary Mac put that down to "enthusiasm" and Aidan agreed.

"I was buzzing throughout the game," he added. "It was a great experience.

"I found out at 10am I was going to play when we ran through their team, our team, and our shape.

"Once you know you are playing you hope you do well."
