A fantastic effort by the club's ground and stadium staff ensured that the Elland Road clash against Wycombe was one of only a handful in the country to beat the snow and ice.
It was a case of the heroes returning home for Simon Grayson and his players after last weekend's victory at Manchester United, and the manager made just one change to that victorious side with Rob Snodgrass coming in for the injured Andrew Hughes.
But it was Jonny Howson who made an immediate impact on the contest when he scored in the fourth minute. The young midfielder delivered a skidding effort from distance which eluded Wycombe goalkeeper Scott Shearer and nestled in the far corner.
It was an early boost for Leeds, but Wycombe did rattled Casper Ankergren's upright moments after the goal, courtesy of a Jon-Paul Pittman effort.
But it was United who fashioned out the next opening when Wycombe defender Craig Woodman did enough to prevent Jermaine Beckford from finishing off a looping delivery.
At the other end, Leeds were almost caught out by a Scott Davies corner which was cleared on the line by Neil Kilkenny after the ball was allowed to drift across the face of goal. The visitors, second from bottom in League One, were looking lively, and Ankergren had to make another save, this time from Stuart Beavon.
Shortly before the half-hour, Snodgrass went close with a free-kick from the edge of the box after Beckford was brought down on the edge of the box.
The United striker did get in an acrobatic effort on 34 minutes, but Shearer proved equal to it in tghe Wycombe goal. Shearer was also called upon to save low from Kilkenny.
As the game edged towards half-time, Bradley Johnson felt he had a claim for a goal when he saw his header from a Snodgrass free-kick cleared off the line by Lewis Hunt after an initial save by Shearer.
Moments before the interval, Wycombe had another half-chance when John Mousinho lifted his shot over the top.
United started the second half brightly and Beckford went close early doors with an effort from distance.
But Wycombe were equally positive and continued to bely their status in the league by making Ankergren work early in the second period.
It was Shearer who was called upon to make another decent save on the hour-mark when he got down well to deny Paddy Kisnorbo, but Wycombe broke quickly and it took some good defending from Richard Naylor to block a Pittman cross.
Pittman had turned in a great shift for Wycombe and he was rewarded shortly after the hour mark when he got the better of Naylor and fired a low drive beyond Ankergren and into the far corner to level the scores.
Grayson responded immediately by replacing Snodgrass, who was returning from injury, with Max Gradel for the final 24 minutes.
But it took some more astute defending to keep Wycombe at bay after a low cross was delivered into the box and Matt Harrold was waiting to convert. Wycombe had played some terrific stuff and were certainly searching for a winner.
United also looked to mount a late rally as the game entered its closing stages, but an offside flag first denied Beckford, then Gradel.
Beckford did try his luck in the 90th minute, but Shearer proved equal to it, and three minutes of stoppage time failed to provide any more drama as Wycombe deservedly left Elland Road with a point.
